Ciao! I'm Eleonora the founder of the Italianity Project
Before I ever taught Italian, I had to learn two other languages the hard way...

I’ve been teaching Italian for 4 years, but at school I couldn’t stand languages. Just ask my high-school English teacher...
Let me explain...
For English, the classroom was only the start
I took lessons where I mostly practised speaking, then filled my days with English: podcasts, vlogs, TikTok, books a little harder each time, TV shows in every accent I could find, and real conversations with people from all over the world. I even switched my phone to English.
For French, I moved to Paris with zero shortcuts
No method, no plan just sentence after sentence, mistake after mistake, until it stopped being something I studied and became something I used.
The trick isn't studying, it's more living the language every single day.
That's what both experiences taught me, in two different languages. Not more grammar drills, not more exercises just real materials, real conversation, real culture, every day. It's the same immersion that finally worked for me, and now it's built into how I teach.
